A concise guide to the tartans of Scotland, illustrating the traditional tartans of 52 clans. Brief notes of historical interest are provided for each clan, and an introductory essay traces the history of this most distinctive of national costumes. In addition, a special section Which is My Clan? lists over 450 surnames, along with the clan (or clans) with which each is connected. The majority of the Clan tartans mentioned in this list are among those illustrated in this book. Finally, a map is included showing the territories of the different clans.
