This policy-oriented book looks at the effects of and reasons behind public enterprise divestiture in economies where capitalism and socialism are combined. Case studies from Chile, Malaysia, Mexico, and the United Kingdom are used to assess the basic question of whether or not a country is better or worse off as a result of the divestiture of its public enterprises. A comparison of performance of individual enterprises before and after the divestiture act is part of the approach taken in this book.
