Kelly Hartly's peaceful vacation is shattered when she discovers a lakeside home occupied by two men holding an old man hostage. Kelly accepts the offer to use her friends' Louisiana summer home, seeking rest and relaxation. Upon arrival, she finds the house occupied by Charles and George, who are holding an old man for ransom. Kelly becomes a captive herself, closely guarded by the mysterious Charles. Despite her fear and the illegal circumstances, Kelly finds herself drawn to Charles, falling for her captor and questioning how she can love a man involved in criminal activity.

The premise sets up a classic romantic suspense scenario where the protagonist finds herself in a dangerous situation that unexpectedly leads to romance. The narrative likely focuses on the escalating tension between Kelly and Charles, exploring the moral complexities of her developing feelings amidst the backdrop of a crime. The story is expected to balance the suspense of the hostage situation with the development of the central romance, aiming for a resolution that addresses both plot threads. The setting in a secluded Louisiana home contributes to the atmosphere of isolation and heightened emotions.
