In 2013, The Fifth Edition Of The Diagnostic And Statistical Manual (dsm-5) Was Published. To Remind Ourselves Of Some Of The Key Differences Between This Version And That Of Dsm-iv: First, Ptsd Is No Longer Part Of The Classification Of Anxiety Disorders. Instead, It Has Been Placed In A New Classification Of Traumatic And Stressor-related Disorders. Second, The Dsm-5 Makes Explicit What Constitutes A Traumatic Event, Which Includes Sexual Assault In Particular. Third, Intense Fear, Helplessness Or Horror Are No Longer The Terms Used To Describe The Person's Reactions To The Traumatic Event. Fourth, The Dsm-5 Describes Ptsd Reactions In Terms Of Four Symptom Clusters: Re-experiencing, Avoidance, Negative Cognitions And Mood And Arousal. These Symptoms Must Last Longer Than One Month; The Dsm-5 No Longer Distinguishes Between Acute And Chronic Ptsd. It Also Specifies Dissociative Symptoms, Namely Depersonalisation And Derealisation (see Table 1)-- Provided By Publisher.
