Product Description This 'one-stop' introduction to corporate insolvency law and practice is based on the classic text Pennington's Corporate Insolvency Law, 2nd Edition. The book has been updated and expanded to cover current issues of great importance such as the legal implications of insolvency on company directors, and restructuring and rescue options. This text addresses the growing cross-border corporate activity and the impact of insolvency upon it. Corporate Insolvency Law deals with the provisions of the new set of Insolvency Rules, which replace the 1986 Rules. It also incorporates all amendments to the Insolvency Act 1986, those provisions of the Companies Act 2006 pertinent to corporate insolvency, the EC Regulation on Insolvency Proceedings, the Cross Border Insolvency Regulations, the Financial Collateral Arrangements Regulations, and the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations. A systematic and detailed exposition of the law, this new book fills the gap for a general and practical work serving practitioners who are new to the field or who require a handy reference, and students of insolvency law. About the Author Dr Sandra Frisby is Associate Professor in Company and Commercial Law at the University of Nottingham. Sandra's research interests include Corporate Insolvency Law, Company Law and Property Law in general. Professor Adrian Walters is the Ralph L. Brill Professor of Law at the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago-Kent College of Law. Dr Irit Ronen-Mevorach is Associate Professor at the University of Nottingham's School of Law. She is a barrister and a solicitor, member of the Israeli Bar Association. Her main interests are in corporate law (especially the law of corporate groups and international aspects of corporate law), insolvency law (in particular European, comparative and international insolvency) and private international law.
This text provides a comprehensive, systematic examination of corporate insolvency law and practice, addressing the complexities of modern restructuring and cross-border legal frameworks. The authors, a team of distinguished legal scholars and professors from the University of Nottingham, Chicago-Kent College of Law, and Nottingham Trent University, utilize their combined expertise to synthesize complex statutory requirements into a practical guide. By integrating the Insolvency Act 1986, the Companies Act 2006, and relevant international regulations, the book establishes a framework for understanding the legal obligations of directors and the mechanisms of corporate rescue.
