The 'Economics of Money and Banking' is an introductory/intermediate level text book covering both introductory monetary theory and contemporary thinking about banking and other financial institutions. It offers both economics and business students a full appreciation of how the economy works. The emphasis of this text is to provide a Theory, Institutions and Policy overview of the strategic issues which have recently shaped banking developments in the UK and elsewhere, particularly Europe. The book will not deal with the nuts and bolts of applied banking topics, instead the Institutions section will be pivotal in the text and will deal with aspects such as: De-Regulation,Securitisation, European Central Banking, EMU and Eurocurrency Markets, Derivatives (options, Futures etc), and Financial Market Developments. The emphasis in the Theory and Policy sections will be to asses the impact of applied issues on theoretical and policy developments.
