Author Description

The year is 1947, in the British occupied zone of post-World War II Germany. During one of the coldest winters of the last century, the bodies of four murdered people are discovered, within weeks of each other, in the war ravaged Hanseatic city of Hamburg. The victims are: two women, an elderly man, and a small child. All the bodies are found naked. Amidst the oppressive mood of the winter, surrounded by starving people, detective Frank Stave aided by an English liaison officer begins his criminal investigation, which seem at first to him to be pointless.
