This work investigates the cultural and historical loss incurred by the demolition of significant Australian architectural landmarks. Author David Latta documents the disappearance of various structures, utilizing archival research and historical photography to reconstruct the visual and social context of these vanished sites. The book argues that the destruction of these buildings represents a profound erasure of national identity and urban character.

The subject matter points to a specialized, archival-focused text intended for readers interested in Australian history and urban preservation. The framing suggests a somber, documentary-style approach that prioritizes visual evidence and historical context to illustrate the scale of architectural loss.
