During the Republican predominance of the 1920's, the national Democratic party transformed itself from an institution largely rural in orientation and leadership to one that embodied the aspirations of the city dweller. This book is about that transformation culminating in the Democratic party victory when Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected president in 1932.
