Excerpt from El Palacio, Vol. 14: March 1, 1923 The temple is built of lava rock, none of it hewn or surfaced. The lava was simply broken up into slabs with stone hammers and pieced together, the chinks being filled out with smaller pieces. There is no indication of mortar, cement or plaster. The center of the truncated cone was filled with sand. On top of the truncated cone there Were found four clay platforms crowned by a stone altar in horseshoe form. The accum ulated debris between the four plat forms indicated a gradual filling in after each had been abandoned indicating that they were not part of the same edifice.
