This text serves as a technical manual and reference guide for the dBase programming language, aiming to provide users with the syntax and operational logic required for database management. The author, M. de Pace, organizes the material to assist programmers in navigating the specific commands and structural requirements of the dBase environment. By focusing on the practical application of the language, the book provides a framework for building, querying, and maintaining relational databases within the constraints of the 1980s computing landscape.

The subject matter points to a technical, specialist text intended for programmers and database administrators working within the dBase ecosystem during the late 1980s. The inclusion of an index suggests a focus on utility and quick reference for users navigating the specific constraints of the language.
