Glory to God is the Presbyterian Church in Ireland's new supplement to the Church Hymnary. It is specifically designed to meet the needs of today's church, containing 129 items that represent the best of recent hymnody: accessible and relevant in idiom and language. The book is arranged in four main sections: Glory to God; Glory to God in Personal Experience; Glory to God in the Church; and Glory to God in the World. The selection reflects the diversity of God's people. There are a number of songs for young people which are ideal for family worship. Material from overseas reminds us of our place in the global family, and songs set to traditional folk tunes will bridge the gap between young and old. Contemporary worship songs make a significant contribution, alongside new hymns in traditional forms and older hymns that have long been a familiar part of worship. Wherever possible, the music is arranged with practical considerations uppermost, and a variety of performance and accompaniment possibilities allows for the use of different musical skills and gifts.
