My clients over the years have repeatedly asked me for an easy-to-read book, saying: " we want what is in your head". Neurodivergence, with a focus on Autism, is the key subject of this 510 page book in which my use of "Aspie" is a respectful shortening of Autistic Spectrum Person. So this is an everyday-language explanation of all things Aspie, for Aspies (Neurodivergents) and non-Aspies (Neurotypicals) written in a light, conversational style. Aspies repeatedly ask me how non-Aspies "think and work", and Neurotypicals are often confused by Aspies. Many interesting case studies and illustrations (it is said that a picture is worth a thousand words) are included to aid these social understandings and interactions. There are over 50 illustrations. Each chapter is self-contained so that a reader can quickly get targeted answers and tools in an overall synopsis contained in one section. The last chapter is a showcase collection of individual personal stories and expressions. Neuro-WHAT? Is written in non-academic language as much as possible, but also tries to demystify the academic language often used on this topic. The book is also written for multiple reading styles: the picture readers, the readers who dip into the highlighted areas, the readers who like to jump around in a book, and then the readers who love a good cover-to-cover read.
