In the view of Reuven Feuerstein it is the direct result of mediated learning experience, whereby a child's cognitive abilities are developed unconsciously through small cultural stimuli passed on by parents and grandparents.In cases where this pattern has been broken, the child fails to develop cognitive skills and may be categorized as having limited abilities.
