The five plays included in this volume range over a period of more than sixty years, from about the close of the fifteenth century to the opening decade of the reign of Queen Elizabeth I. They represent distinctive dramatic types in the formative earlier Tudor period which preceded and led up to the unparalleled achievement of Shakespeare and his fellow playwrights.
