The volume make a stylistic comparison of the underdrawing revealed in infrared reflectograms of early Netherlandish paintings with the paintings themselves when that is possible. Black and white photographs juxtapose details of finished painting and the original drawings on which they are based. Among the Rogier van der Weyden Group paintings examined are the Prado Descent from the Cross, the Beaune Polyptych, the Uffizi Lamentation, and the Louvain Trinity.
