Afield in 400 Years of Animal & Sporting Art was the inaugural exhibition at the National Sporting Library & Museum (NSLM), founded as the National Sporting Library in 1954. This impressive opening exhibition introduced NSLM as a collection of fine art within its mission to preserve, promote, and share the literature, art, and culture of equestrian, angling, and field sports. The exhibition features paintings and sculptures from across four centuries of American history, focusing on the outdoor sporting tradition that includes horse racing, hunting, shooting, and fly fishing.
