Nanno Marinatos, a prominent scholar of Minoan religion, utilizes archaeological evidence and iconographic analysis to argue that the Minoan state was not a peaceful, isolated society but one deeply invested in the symbolism of war and divine protection. By examining seals, frescoes, and ritual artifacts, she reconstructs a framework where the goddess functions as a central figure in the projection of royal and military strength.
