"Books in the Speech Science Series cover the basic and applied sciences of speech, including anatomy and physiology of speech, speech acoustics, the perception of speech, life course issues in speech communication, and the speech technologies. This series eventually will include books written at the introductory, intermediate, and advanced levels, but the initial books generally are written for the introductory audience. Books at the intermediate and advanced levels will follow as the series continues to develop."
