It addresses the impact of the spread of communism and describes how some key organizations gradually ceased to exist and were replaced by a single communist-dominated women's organization. The book includes a case study of women who entered the police force, a profession previously closed to them. About the Author Andrea Peto is associate professor of history at Miskolc University in Hungary. She edited two volumes in Hungarian, six volumes in English, one in Russian and she serves on the board of several journals in women's history.
