The James Guthrie Harbord papers, contained in the special collection described in this register, are limited to that correspondence relating to the Marine Corps. Much of the correspondence collected relates to the fractious competition for the Marine Corps' highest post in 1930 and General Harbord's attempt to aid a wartime companion.
