With the Treaty of Amiens signed, Nelson's navy relaxes its guard but Captain Ramage suspects Napoleon of trickery. Admiralty orders are to survey a small island off the coast of Brazil, so Ramage sails the Calypso into the island's only anchorage and into more danger than he has ever faced before.
