This book investigates the operational capabilities and practical application of the Locoscript word processing software on the Amstrad PCW 8256 computer system. The author, Ian Robertson Sinclair, provides a technical manual designed to guide users through the specific hardware and software integration of this 1980s home office machine. The text focuses on demystifying the proprietary interface and file management systems unique to the Amstrad platform for the contemporary user.

The subject matter points to a technical, period-specific manual intended for owners of the Amstrad PCW 8256 system during its peak usage in the mid-1980s. The framing suggests a practical, instructional approach that prioritizes functional utility over theoretical computing concepts.
