This work investigates the political influence and personal survival of Licinia Eudoxia, the daughter of Emperor Theodosius II and wife to two successive Western Roman emperors. The author examines the limited primary source material available regarding Eudoxia’s life to reconstruct her role within the volatile power structures of the fifth-century Roman Empire. By analyzing the dynastic marriages and the eventual sack of Rome, the text argues that Eudoxia served as a critical link between the Eastern and Western imperial courts during a period of systemic collapse.
