Fully updated, including data up to September 1999, the London Dysmorphology Database (LDDB) now contains information on 3030 non-chromosomal, multiple congenital anomaly syndromes. There are also 28,323 references. LDDB arose from the need to diagnose and provide genetic counselling for the hundreds of rare syndromes which are associated with mental retardation and congenital anomalies. Work began on the database in 1981 with the intention of ascertaining the majority of reported syndromes in the literature. All the major reference works are consulted, as well as all journals that might contain a report of multiple congenital anomaly syndromes. System requirements: Windows 3.1, Windows 95, or Windows NT. 486 PC with 33 MHz or full compatible. 8Mb of RAM. VGA monitor with 16 colours set at 640 x 480 (256 colours recommended). Software: 15 Mb of disk space; individual databases: 38 Mb each. Networks: Novell or NT compatible networks.
The London Dysmorphology Database serves as a comprehensive diagnostic tool designed to assist clinicians in identifying rare, non-chromosomal multiple congenital anomaly syndromes. Dr. Michael Baraitser and Robin Winter developed this resource to address the clinical necessity for accurate genetic counseling regarding syndromes associated with mental retardation and congenital anomalies. The database aggregates data from extensive literature reviews, providing a centralized repository for practitioners to cross-reference complex patient presentations.
What You Will Find
