This collection of 15 essays presents the views of economists on what is emerging as the central topic of the 21st century: long-term economic growth. The contributors, who represent a wide range of specialties within economics, relate their work to a common set of questions, within a common framework. The book is divided into six parts: overviews of economic growth and development; the domestic macroeconomic context in which growth takes place (including stabilization and investment); the international context (including trade and finance); the institutional setting (including liability reforms and financial infrastructure); structural and supportive policies (including technology); and the performance of two key industries (computing and chemical).
