This can be seen in Dante's Divine Comedy as Virgil is Dante's guide through hell and purgatory.The Aeneid has always been considered the national poem of ancient Rome. The book tells the story of Aeneas, a Trojan who traveled to Italy after the Trojan War ended and became an ancestor of the Romans.
