
First published in 1864, this book contains the reminiscences of a man who worked as a surveyor in Penang from 1838 to 1851, and who later became the first Surveyor-General of New Zealand. The memoir combines observations of the lifestyles of the Malaysian people with a denouncement of imperialism.
