This collection investigates the fundamental structure of reality and the mechanisms by which dependent entities rely upon foundational ones. Editor Mark Jago compiles a series of papers from emerging scholars in the field of metaphysics to address the nature of grounding and fundamentality. The work utilizes contemporary analytical frameworks to map the relationship between basic entities and the broader, dependent components of the world.

Experts identify this collection as a significant resource for those tracking the evolution of grounding theory in modern philosophy. Readers frequently note the academic density of the prose, which is intended for scholars and advanced students of metaphysics.
