This work investigates how the principles of Afrocentricity function as a structural and ideological framework within the dramatic works of Larry Neal, Amiri Baraka, and Charles Fuller. Nilgun Anadolu-Okur, a scholar of African American literature and theater, analyzes the shift from Western dramatic conventions to a uniquely Black aesthetic. By examining specific plays, she argues that these authors utilize theater as a vehicle for cultural reclamation, political resistance, and the articulation of a distinct African American identity. The text provides a critical lens through which to view the evolution of Black theater from the Black Arts Movement through the late twentieth century.
