This book will address issues related to the demography of race and ethnicity - defined broadly - with particular emphasis on differential growth rates, stratification, and conflict. The volume will consist of approximately 36 chapters divided into various sections broken down by region/continent of the world. The introduction will set the stage for the 34 substantive chapters. To obtain a degree of comparability, each chapter will address common themes such as: a demographic profile of the county; historical overview of the country and racial/ethnic conflict; the most salient demographic trends and issues that the country faces; theoretical issues related to the linkages between stratification, demography, and conflict; methodological issues including quality of data and cutting-edge methods to better understand the issue at hand; and the future of the existing demographic and related trends and issues with particular emphasis on public policy and human rights.
