A substantial amount of seedling fertilization research has been undertaken in British Columbia and elsewhere in recent years, but results have been inconsistent and much has not been reported in the scientific literature. This report reviews and summarizes available seedling fertilization information to identify promising treatments and treatment combinations and to make specific recommendations regarding the direction and scope of future seedling fertilization research and operations. Special reference is made to interior spruce because of its special problems with p̀lanting check', although many of the findings may apply to other conifer species.
