The present book gives an overview and role of ubiquitous retrotransposon mobile genetic elements. Retro transposons and their kind frame the bulk of genomic DNA. Heterogeneous populations of Retrotransposons contain over 76% of nuclear DNA content in Hordeum vulgare and over 75% of maize genome. Retrotransposons belong to Class 1 family and transpose by the "copy and paste" transposition mechanism.
